Description
UAE gift helps French palace reopen 'forgotten theatre' Napoleon III's imperial theatre at the château in Fontainebleau is set to re-open after 140 years of disuse and 12 years of restoration work. "Everything that was preserved is everything that can be seen," says the project's chief architect -- velour, silk and damask surfaces, thick carpets all taken away, cleaned and repaired, while the structure of the theatre was given new life underneath. The very-briefly used courtly venue is now renamed the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Theatre after the ruler of Abu Dhabi whose donation of 10 million Euros made the restoration possible.
