The brothers Jorgensen were training hard for the Seoul Olympics in 1988. Two and a half hours in the morning, two and a half in the evening, 6 days a week in a Rancho Bernardo pool --17 year old Lars and 20 year old Dan--doing what it takes to swim with the world's best. Their dad, 51 year old Niels, was their coach. Both said their dad was tough on them and wanted to get the most out of them. Dan earned a gold medal swimming in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay. Individually, he also competed in the B Final of the men's 400-meter freestyle and finished fourteenth overall. Lars competed in the preliminary heats of the men's 1,500-meter freestyle, and finished with the twenty-third-best time overall.
