Some called it Pollux, after the French name given to the little dog with a round black nose from the 1960s English-language children's television programme 'The Magic Roudabout', while others praised its "Swiss Army knife" nature and its ability to land on any terrain. The Transall, the legendary aircraft used by the French army to transport troops around the world, is retiring after 59 years of service.
