The South African government holds a press conference a year on from the July 2021 riots that were sparked by the imprisonment of ex-president Jacob Zuma. The Defence Minister, Thandi Modise, vows to bring the organisers to justice emphasising that "there will be no shortcuts", and reassures the press gathered that only the "masterminds" will be prosecuted, not those who participated in the looting out of desperation and hunger.
