August 4th 2022 marks 50 years since Ugandan dictator Idi Amin announced the explusion of Asians from his country. To mark the anniversary, Leicester Museum has created an exhibition celebrating the contributions of Asian Ugandans who arrived in England’s Midlands region. The exhibition tells the story of the collective migration of around 27,000 Ugandan Asians to the UK and commemorates the impact they have had on cities such as Leicester. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
