Description
Juan Guaido, recognised as Venezuela's "interim president" from 2019 to 2022 by the opposition and much of the international community, will be a candidate in the opposition primaries to face President Nicolas Maduro in the 2024 presidential election, announces political coordinator of Voluntad Popular party Freddy Superlano.
While Guaido can take part in the opposition primaries, it is not clear that he would be able to contest the 2024 election, as he has been banned by authorites from holding public office for 15 years. Two-time presidential candidate Henrique Capriles and Maria Corina Machado, from the most radical wing of the opposition, have also made their participation official. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
