Description
A few months before the next presidential election, Beatrice Mtetwa, Zimbabwe's best-known human rights lawyer and a vocal critic of the country's authoritarian government, refuses to be intimidated. "I am not doing anything unlawful” she says, “I took an oath to respect the laws of the land, I took an oath to represent people to the best of my ability." The fearless advocate has been arrested, beaten up and spent eight days in prison a few years ago for helping a client. As for the upcoming elections, with political repression even harsher than under Robert Mugabe, Mtetwa hopes it doesn’t turn into "a bloodbath". IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
