Wearing gloves but no face masks, Yuryst and another member of his small unit pick up the rotting corpse of a Russian soldier and put it in a big white bag. The corpse was recently discovered by a 10-year-old boy who tended his cows in the village of Synykha in the northeastern region of Kharkiv. Yuryst and his teammates are building up a database of bodies for future exchanges with Moscow, collecting evidence for future international tribunals and helping to reduce the risk of contamination and disease.
