During a briefing in Juba, South Sudan's Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said that he hoped the 72-hour extension of a repeatedly broken ceasefire in Sudan would be a chance to foster talks between rival forces in the African nation. Nearly two weeks of warfare betweeen Sudan's army led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has killed hundreds, caused widespread destruction and sent tens of thousands fleeing across the borders.
