Description
File images of gravestones and death masks at the Tak'alik Ab'aj archaeological site in Guatemala, home to a pre-Hispanic people who witnessed the transition from Olmec to Maya. The site is now one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The village was occupied for 1,700 years (from 800 BC to 900 AD) and the transitional bridge is estimated to have occurred between 350 BC and 100 AD, at the end of the Preclassic period. It was discovered in 1888. FILE IMAGES
