Description
At a meeting in Geneva to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Israel's ambassador to the United Nations condemns Palestinian foreign minister Riyad al-Maliki for a speech in which he said Israel was deliberately starving people in the Gaza Strip "as a weapon of war." "Once again, unfortunately, what we've seen is that the Palestinian foreign minister is not able to say anything about Hamas, nothing about the atrocities that were committed by Hamas," Meirav Eilon Shahar says. Her comments came as Israel presses on with its bombardment of Gaza, more than two months after Hamas's October 7 attacks killed 1,200 people inside Israel and saw around 240 people taken hostage, according to Israeli figures. Israel's offensive has reduced much of Gaza to rubble and killed at least 18,200 people, mostly women and children, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
