Description
Members of the Croat Democratic Community (HDZ), the conservative party in power, celebrate the first official results of the parliamentary elections announced by the Electoral Commission. According to these partial results, based on the counting of ballots in 25 percent of polling stations, the HDZ is widely in the lead, with 67 seats out of 151 in the country's parliament. Its main rival, the Social Democratic Party (SDP), came second with 41 seats. According to exit polls, the HDZ has won the most seats, but not enough to form a government, with difficult talks looming. IMAGES
