Hundreds of supporters of Venezuela's opposition rally in La Victoria where opposition leader Maria Corina Machado presented her proxy candidate for the presidential election against Nicolas Maduro. Machado won an opposition primary last year but has been banned from standing by courts loyal to Maduro, who is seeking a third six-year term. Another candidate -- the little-known diplomat Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia -- has been nominated in Machado's place, but she has continued to campaign as the opposition's popular figurehead.
