Description
The Acropolis of Athens, Greece's most visited tourist site, shuts its ticket booth and closes to the public during the hottest hours of the day as a heatwave bakes the country. The culture ministry has said the UNESCO-listed archaeological site would close from midday to 5:00 pm (0900 to 1400 GMT), with temperatures expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and Thursday. "We're just going to bring plenty of water" says Yancy Yap, a tourist from the US, "I think we're going to have to do that to stay alive today." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
