Description
"Disgusted", "hungover", "frightening": the day after the first round of the French general elections, voters in the 1st constituency of the Rhone are reacting to the results. Although the New Popular Front (NFP) candidates came out on top in the four constituencies of inner-city Lyon, the far-right RN came out on top in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region. In the 1st constituency, a triangular race is shaping up with Anais Belouassa-Cherifi, a 29-year-old France Unbowed (LFI) militant who was part of Jean-Luc Melenchon's campaign team (42.40%), the outgoing MP from the presidential camp Thomas Rudigoz (29.72%) and the far right RN candidate Laurent Mouton (18.1%).
