Description
Before the Pride parade in the east German town of Altenburg has even started, a small group hurls insults and flashes middle fingers at those present, demonstrating exactly what organisers have set out to confront. "We exist here too," says Torge Dermitzel, who organised the parade with the aim of tackling the discrimination still faced by LGBTQ people in the country's smaller towns and villages, with the far-right's rise in some areas at the forefront of his thinking. "We won't let that discourage us," he adds, "we're going to carry on." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
