Description
Representatives from the Committee for the Release of Jorge Glas and the Puebla Group urge Ecuadorian authorities to allow international organizations to assess former Vice President Jorge Glas' health. In Guayaquil, Bolivian lawyer Sacha Llorenti and Chilean Marco Enriquez-Ominami attempt to visit Glas but are denied entry due to lack of authorization. Llorenti accuses the government of judicial abuse and calls for intervention by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention.
Glas, detained after an April 5 police raid on the Mexican Embassy, is being held in La Roca, Ecuador’s maximum-security prison. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
