Japan's atomic bomb survivors' group Nihon Hidankyo says it does not believe Russian President Vladimir Putin "truly understands" the threat posed by nuclear weapons, after his recent update to Russia's nuclear doctrine. Speaking in Oslo, Norway, Terumi Tanaka, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning group's co-chair, says "I don't think he has even thought about this or understood this.
