Ecuadorans say they are surprised that the election of the new president will be decided in a second round of elections.
The president of violence-hit Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, claimed his razor-thin lead in the first round of the country's election as a win, despite a stronger-than-expected showing by his leftist challenger Luisa Gonzalez.
"The results last night were surprising, because both Luisa [Gonzalez] and [Daniel] Noboa were tight, and as we already know, we are going to a second round and we have to wait to see what happens in the course of these months," says a Quito resident. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
