Description
The remains of 60 Harkis who died and were buried without a grave at the Rivesaltes camp between 1962 and 1964 were transferred in 1986 to a city cemetery. France's Deputy Minister in charge of Remembrance and Veterans, Patricia Mirallès, was present as a local mayor announced the news to the families. "It's my uncle! He's a veteran! Can you imagine? Their graves have been ripped open!" decried one relative. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
