President Donald Trump slammed diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives as “absolute nonsense” during an address to the World Economic Forum Thursday and hailed his administration's move to abolish them.
Speaking by video from the White House to the annual summit in Davos, Switzerland, Trump said his administration has "taken action to abolish all discriminatory diversity, equity and inclusion nonsense" in both the public and private sectors, adding that "America will once again become a merit-based country."
Trump also said he made it "an official policy of the United States that there are only two genders: male and female."
"Transgender operations, which became the rage, will happen very rarely," Trump said.
In his first major speech to global leaders since taking office three days ago, Trump ran through his flurry of executive actions since his swearing-in and claimed that he had a “massive mandate” from the American people to bring change.
