Description
Sept. 19 on The Story: Investigative reporter Kyle Iboshi has been covering for months the fate of the former Gordon's Fireplace Shop in Northeast Portland. After being sold by its previous owner in 2016, the venerable building descended into neglect and disrepair, now covered in graffiti and shattered windows. Portland City Council previously foreclosed on the building after it built up $150,000 in liens, and soon it's scheduled to be auctioned off. The current owners, who always planned to (eventually) develop it into something, have no intention of paying off those fines — but they also don't expect it to actually go to auction. Here's the story on how they may still have a few tricks up their sleeves.
