Naomi Pomeroy, a James Beard award-winning Portland chef, drowned while floating on the Willamette River near Corvallis over the weekend. The 49-year-old was in the midst of opening a new bistro in the former Woodsman Tavern, next door to her frozen custard shop, Cornet Custard, on Southeast Division in Portland.
