#BREAKING UPDATE: Tampa PD is providing an update on the teenage inmate who escaped juvenile detention center following his murder arrest.
PRIOR COVERAGE:
The Tampa Police Department confirmed the teen accused of murdering 14-year-old Jevario Buie has been taken back into custody after he escaped from juvenile detention Sunday morning.
With the help of the U.S. Marshals Task Force, the agency said 15-year-old Jahmir Moore was found and arrested "without incident" just after 9:15 p.m. on West Keyes Avenue in Tampa.
Moore was discovered to be missing after police said in a press conference he didn't come out for a headcount at the Hillsborough Regional Juvenile Detention Center. He was reportedly seen on video at the facility around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Law enforcement officials said they were then able to find video in the community showing Moore running "westbound from the facility" around 10:45 a.m.
"Tonight, the family of Jevario Buie and our community can rest knowing a dangerous individual is back in custody," Chief Lee Barcaw said in a statement. "I am incredibly appreciative of the officers who worked tirelessly since this morning when they were alerted of Moore's escape. Let this be a reminder to those who think they can evade Tampa Police, they cannot, and they will be held accountable."
