Description
No severe weather is expected today, but tropical heavy downpours are expected at times. Drought-busting rain makes it for a wet commute into work this morning.
Tuesday: We finally ease into the rainy season with a more consistent schedule of widespread showers and occasional downpours. This is due to a broad area of low pressure known as the Central American gyre, that allows ample moisture to develop.
Models have shifted a bit with more of the moisture over towards the western Gulf this week. We will start to see this low drift northward, bringing increasing rain coverage to the Florida peninsula and Gulf Coast. For Tampa Bay, rain coverage looks more promising towards the end of the week with 4-7 inches possible through Father's Day. This will also cool temperatures down, returning to more seasonable values in the upper 80s.
