April 21 on The Story: Commissioners for the Port of Portland reluctantly voted Monday to ditch a 7-year-old social equity policy, citing $145 million in federal funding at risk of being blown up due to the Trump administration's aversion to all things diversity, equity and inclusion. The port relies heavily on federal dollars to operate the PDX airport, Portland's marine shipping terminals and the smaller Hillsboro and Troutdale airports. In public testimony, Portlanders overwhelmingly asked the port to keep the policy in place.
