Description
July 30 on The Story: Since winning election in 2023, Lucy Lauser has been a city councilor for the southwest Washington town of Stevenson. A transgender woman, Lauser said she was disturbed by the Trump administration's attacks on trans rights — so she decided to do something about it. On two occasions, she stood topless out front of the county courthouse, holding a sign. The second time, on the Fourth of July, she was arrested for indecent exposure. Right now Lauser is running for mayor of Stevenson, but she's also hounded by a recall campaign launched by a local business owner who says that Lauser should be expelled from office for actions unbecoming of an elected official.
