Elizabeth City State University has confirmed one person died in an on-campus shooting early Sunday. The shooting in the center of campus happened about 12:30 a.m. during Yard Fest, part of the Viking Fest events held in the quad. The victim is a 24-year-old man who was not a student at Elizabeth City State University. His identity is being withheld pending the notification of his next of kin, officials said. In addition, four people, including three ECSU students, suffered gunshot wounds and two ECSU students suffered other injuries during the subsequent commotion.
