Video captured outside a Chicago Walgreens shows Border Patrol agents tackling and detaining a 19-year-old man who repeatedly said he is a U.S. citizen, according to the witness who filmed the encounter.
The Department of Homeland Security said agents were responding to an immigration enforcement operation when a Border Patrol vehicle collided with an SUV. After the crash, several people ran into the store and agents followed.
Witness Yarelly Jimenez said agents pinned her sister’s boyfriend, identified as Warren King, to the ground. He was later released.
DHS said agents encountered a “hostile reaction” from bystanders and confirmed two arrests were made.
