Welcome to Mandela's Favela in Rio de Janeiro “Welcome to Nelson Mandela", can be read above a portrait of the late leader graphitized on a wall of a house at the entrance of the favela, a poor area in northern Rio. "Our community was inaugurated in April 10, 1990, when Mandela was released from prison.
