Syrian army advances in Hama province The Syrian army announced it had taken control of Halfaya area in Syria's central province of Hama. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Syrian troops backed by Iranian officers took large parts of Halfaya from rebels including jihadists from Al-Nusra Front, Al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate.
