Description
Austrian town of Almuenster embraces asylum-seekers The Austrian town of Altmuenster was largely opposed to a shelter for asylum seekers' when the decision was first mooted two years ago, but the local mayor and pastor, managed to change local opinion and the town, on the shores of the picturesque Traunsee lake near Salzburg, has now become a model for other Austrian communities. Around fifty asylum seekers, from Syria, Iran, Afghanistan and Ukraine now live here, taking 30 hours of German language classes a week. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
