The Star of India has a newly refurbished, old-fashioned galley. And to celebrate the installation of an ancient coal-burning stove, a benefit barbecue was held aboard the vessel last night. Admission was the price of a ticket, plus any donation you wanted to give. The menu featured Australian short ribs, the donation of ship's director Charles Hansen who also prepared the barbecue. Proceeds are earmarked for further restoration of the century old iron hulled sailing vessel now docked at the foot of Broadway.
