In a small office in Aleppo, Syrian historian Alaa Al-Sayed meticulously organizes thousands of newspapers, books and pamphlets, scanning each one to add them to his digital library aimed at preserving his war-torn city’s history. Hit hard by Syria’s war, the city of Aleppo lost large sections of its historic markets to bombing and street fighting.
