Description
In Texas' Matagorda Bay, between Houston and Corpus Christi, Diane Wilson, a former shrimp fisherwoman, is fighting against plastic giant Formosa, which releases millions of plastic pellets into the environment. A study by Bennington College in Vermont shows that in the United States, pollution from plastic production will soon surpass that from coal. Almost 80 percent of the CO2 emissions from the plastics industry are concentrated in the Gulf of Mexico, in Louisiana but mainly in Texas. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
