Description
On the rocky shore of Pampin beach, north of La Rochelle, in the heart of Europe's largest oyster basin, half a dozen workers sort waste before sorting in skips as part of the NETCONCH programme, a clean-up project for abandoned shellfish beds. Launched a year ago by the Marine Park of the Gironde Estuary and the Charente channels, it aims to reduce plastic pollution at sea. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
