Description
"If Maduro wants legitimate and competitive elections they have to be without disqualified opponents," two-time presidential candidate Henrique Capriles tells AFP while delivering medicine to residents of Guarenas, a town near Caracas. "I'm not sure if I am going to be a candidate," says Capriles, despite making the comments during a typical campaign trail event. He and other leaders of the fractured opposition are moving ahead with the possibility of participating in primaries this year to choose the candidate to face President Nicolas Maduro in the elections scheduled for 2024. The internal votes - the date of which has yet to be set - will take place amid deep divisions following the removal in January of Juan Guaido's symbolic "interim government". IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
