Description
For over 20 years, samba school ESUCAB in Capim Branco, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, has held carnival parades with reused costumes. After the parades of Rio de Janeiro, members collect props, clothes and costumes that are discarted, many of them by foreigners, who can't take them back to their home countries. The pieces go to an improvised shed in the house of Maria Lucia, president of the school, where they undergo a cleaning and restoration process. Some pieces are renovated, and others are used to give life to new creations. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
