Description
French army General Eric Ozanne, commanding general of the land-based part of the Orion military drill, gives an initial assessment of more than 48 hours of manoeuvres. "I have already fulfilled my mission, so this is the first satisfaction", with "a lot of lessons that must be learned". In total, 700 French soldiers and nearly 150 vehicles landed on the coast of Herault, south of France, on Sunday, as part of an exercise of unprecedented scale called Orion 2023, whose scenario provides for an amphibious and airborne landing in southern France to repel a hostile militia supported by a powerful neighboring state.
