Description
“There were dead people everywhere, mostly children”, says fisherman Vincenzo Luciano, who was among the first to arrive at the beach and witness the plight of the victims of the Italy migrant shipwreck.
The overloaded wooden boat broke up and sank last Sunday in stormy seas off Italy's southern coast, with bodies, shoes and debris washing up along a long stretch of shoreline. At least 60 people died, according to local authorities.
