Some people photograph the huge piles of rubbish in the same way they immortalise the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame. But with the garbage collectors' strike entering its second week in Paris, tourists find it spoils their trip. "The smell is very unpleasant, and when you walk past you sometimes have to slalom between the bins. It's not very nice," says Claudia, a German tourist who came to the capital with her French lover.
