Description
Video game developers, investors and members of the public gather at the London Games Festival ahead of the gaming BAFTA awards. This year, a number of independent games, including Citizen Sleeper -- a game made by one person -- have been nominated alongside multi-million dollar titles. "It is a massive validation of your efforts" says Michael French, the festival's director, "indie developers have to do a lot more sometimes than bigger budget games". Gareth Damien Martin, the developer of Citizen Sleeper, a sci-fi role-playing game based on their experiences of London's gig economy, and one nominated for four BAFTAs, explains that "new experiences now, doesn't mean the most incredible graphics...it's really about the stories we're telling."
