Faced with a water shortage due to the drought, French golf clubs are finding ways to water their greens less. In the south-west, "the aim is to support golf courses" in "reducing the amount of water used by 30%," explains Nicolas Ilbert of the Adour-Garonne Water Agency. The Seignosse golf course on the south-west coast has recently installed a new irrigation system that can operate more flexibly in relation to rain and other variables, a 1.2 million euro investment with a 300,000 euro subsidy from the water agency.
