Description
Residents in the Somalian capital, Mogadishu, are happy to see reform of the electoral process which will bring in a direct "one-person, one-vote" system from 2024. "It is very good that the people are given the choice on self-determination. In the past, a small group of people used to elect our leaders behind closed doors" says Mohamed Ali Abdi, on the street in Mogadishu. Another describes the move, which follows a pledge made by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in March, as "a step forward." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
