The head of NATO's KFOR peacekeeping force in Kosovo, Major General Angelo Michele Ristuccia, urges Belgrade and Pristina to ditch "useless rhetoric" and hold talks to defuse high tensions. His plea comes three weeks after 38 KFOR soldiers were wounded in clashes with Serb protesters in Kosovo's flashpoint north, in what he said was the worst flare-up of violence KFOR has faced since 2004.
