Description
Perched up high in Austria's mountains, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road continues to impress the near-million that travel along it every year. "The whole road is an experience. It is simply unique" says tourist Jurgen Neumann. But the road is now another witness to the impact of climate change. Traveller Herbert Hogl was here 20 years ago and is dismayed to see the change in the landscape. The Pasterze Glacier, the longest in central Europe, "is now 100 metres further away, or 150 metres" he says. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
