Description
A Swedish royal expert, an enthusiast and a critic give their opinions ahead of King Carl XVI Gustaf's 50th jubilee on Friday. The celebration -- of a monarch whose seeming normalness endeared him to Swedes -- will last for three days, including a mass, a gala dinner and a parade through the streets of Stockholm. "He had to be modern" explains Roger Lundgren, royal specialist, "he's always wanted to develop the monarchy with the rest of society." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
