Description
Touted as Hungarian model, the policies introduced under conservative Prime Minister Viktor Orban to incentivise couples to have children are once again in focus during the bi-annual Budapest Demographic Summit, where Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is one of the speakers.
Drawing interest from conservative and far-right politicians and prominent figures, critics say the policies have fuelled inequality and discrimination. "We need a change in the political course," declares Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during the summit. "We have to make sure that family-friendly, conservative powers take over in as many European countries as possible," he adds. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
