Description
Several armies gather on the Canjuers military field in southern France to watch and discover the French-made Caesar, a 155 mm, 52-caliber self-propelled howitzer that can fire 39/52 caliber NATO-standard shells.
It has been widely used by Ukraine for over a year and is used by nine armies, including Saudi Arabia and the Czech Republic. Belgium is set to equip its army with seven of the trucks.
"It's very important that we don't each work in our own sphere, and that we learn from each other about what works well, about new needs that we manufacturers might not have realised," says Olivier Fort, artillery director at KNDS, Nexter's parent company, which produces the Caesar guns. Representatives from other armies, which do not use this gun, are also present during the exercises. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
