Description
The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw is exhibiting 89 paintings by artist Maria Primachenko, whose works in the naive style incorporate many folk symbols and motifs from her native Ukraine. Although Primachenko died in 1997, the museum says that her works have taken on added significance in the wake of Russia's invasion. "This is a signal that Russia will not succeed in defeating Ukraine, in erasing its identity and cultural heritage," says Vitalii Bilyi, counsellor at the Ukrainian embassy in Poland.
